Reasoning

My reason behind this entire endeavor is to better understand the challenges behind poverty. I understand that one month on a tight budget cannot compare to the struggles faced by someone who is faced with the reality of being in poverty, but I want to understand just how difficult budgeting and other struggles faced can be. I also feel that I may learn some potential tools and tricks that can help me in social work.

One Month in Poverty...

Beginning on October 1st I will be spending one month living off the income of the Federal Poverty guidelines for a Family of 1 individual. This will mean huge changes in my life style. I will be blogging daily about the sacrifices that I am forced to make. One large sacrifice will be the loss of my car (it does not fit into the budget). Therefore I will be budgeting for a bus pass. My blog will include my budget, pictures, and written stories about the daily struggles I have. Check in for updates!
I will begin OCTOBER 1st 2010
